NCBW and the 21st
George Washington Bridge Challenge
The Health Committee spearheaded NCBW Bergen/Passaic Chapter’s participation in the American Cancer's Society's George Washington Bridge Challenge on Sunday, June 8, 2008. This non-competitive annual event was an uplifting salute to the area's cancer survivors and their families. After crossing the world's most-traveled bridge, walkers, runners, and cyclists chose one of several scenic through Bergen county. This year marked the 21st anniversary of the GWB Challenge and NCBW exceeded their goal and raised more than $7,000. NCBW Bergen/Passaic Chapter was the top fundraising team for this event!
Two NCBW members were highlighted in the Bergen Record.

Annual Fundraiser -
Ultimate Extravaganza II
The National Coalition of 100 Black Women - Bergen/Passaic Chapter hosted their 22nd annual Fundraising Gala, "Ultimate Extravaganza II ", at the Sheraton, Mahwah on Saturday evening, May 3, 2008. Over 600 guests danced the night away to the musical delights of Valarie Adams & The Dimension Band, Caribbean Steel Pan Ambassadors, and DJ MEJCJ Productions.
This year NCBW recognized Verizon, PSEG, State Farm Insurance, Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey and Prudential Financial for their ongoing support. The proceeds of the Fundraiser will benefit programs in the areas of Youth Education & Development, Economic Development, Health and Arts & Culture.
